Over 1,000 Business Leaders Collaborate to Form Enterprise GenAI Governance Framework

A diverse group of industry leaders, exceeding 1,000 members, has united to develop the Enterprise GenAI Governance Framework. This framework aims to provide businesses with a structured approach to evaluate their AI readiness, pinpoint associated risks, and adopt generative AI responsibly.

The initiative is led by integration platform Boomi, professional services firm Connor Group, and several professors, including David Wood from Brigham Young University, Scott Emett from Arizona State University, and Marc Eulerich from the University of Duisburg-Essen.

The creators emphasize that the framework is adaptable for companies of any size, allowing customization to fit specific goals, requirements, and risk tolerance.

“Successful AI adoption offers a significant competitive edge, but many organizations are unsure where to begin or how to implement it,” stated Jeff Pickett, chair and founder of Connor Group. “Currently, there are a few AI tools available, with many more rapidly emerging. Developing a comprehensive AI adoption strategy that includes robust controls, data, and processes takes time. Leading companies are already taking these steps.”

The Enterprise GenAI Governance Framework is designed to complement the GenAI Governance Framework Maturity Model, also developed by Wood, Emett, and Eulerich. This maturity model helps businesses assess their existing governance practices, identify areas needing improvement, and plan for these enhancements.

“Together, the GenAI Governance Framework and the Maturity Model are invaluable resources for organizations navigating the evolving AI landscape,” remarked Wood. “Utilizing these tools can significantly improve an organization’s preparedness, resilience, and ability to leverage AI’s benefits while managing its risks effectively.”
